Dr. Renger is certified to use the PerioLase MVP-7 through the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry. The PerioLase MVP-7 is a laser that is FDA approved to treat gum disease with the LANAP procedure. Dr. Renger has been a Preferred Invisalign Provider since 2009. He has completed the Implant Surgery and Restoration Clinical Residency at the McGarry Implant Institute. Dental Sleep Medicine is another interest area for Dr. Renger. He treats Obstructive Sleep Apnea with oral appliances from training he received from the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. Dr. Renger has practiced general dentistry in Joplin since 2002. He and his team have been committed to participating in some of the best continuing education training available. They are highly motivated to keep current on the latest advancements in modern dentistry for the benefit of their patients. He and his team see patients of all ages. Dr. Renger enjoys hunting, fishing, and sports. Most of all, he enjoys the time he spends with his wife (Cari) and two children (Ethan and Presley). His family has been members of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church for several years.

Dr. Parth Patel graduated Magna Cum Laude from Joplin High school. He pursued his undergraduate studies at University Of Missouri-Kansas City and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry with a minor in Healing and Humanities. He then attended dental school at University Of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry to achieve his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Dr. Patel provides patients with dental care in hopes to help them regain their confidence and better their oral health through improving esthetics, function and overall oral health needs. Dr. Patel describes practicing dentistry as building patient-dentist relationships to better understand their needs, wants, and oral health goals.
“Math and Science were always my favorite subjects in school, but I always knew that I wanted to be in the healthcare field because of my desire to help people.” Dr. Patel says. “My dream job includes aspects of working with my hands and having an opportunity to meet and build relationships with new people, thus being able to have a positive impact on other people’s lives.”
Dr. Parth Patel considers Joplin, Missouri his hometown. He has been lucky enough to call the states of New Jersey, Mississippi, and Georgia his home over the years. He considers Joplin his hometown because this was the place where he found his aspirations of being a dentist, and because this is where his parents have resided over the last 12 years.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his 5-month-old golden retriever puppy, Mia, his parents, and his friends. He also enjoys hiking, going to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play, and traveling. Through the years he has dedicated his time through volunteering to better his communities that he has resided in such as KC pet project, Smile Academy, and Harvesters. He hopes to continue this and use his specific training as apart of his volunteering to better the community of Joplin!
As a dentist, Dr. DeTar is committed to a life of continual learning. He is married to Sandy. Together they have 5 children and 11 grandchildren. In his free time he loves to go hiking and skiing. He is also quite fond of spending time on the Big Sugar Creek in Southwest Missouri.

Bayley is a Registered Dental Hygienist at Shine Modern Dentistry. She has been a hygienist for our team since September 2016. Bayley graduated from Missouri Southern State University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene and a Minor in Biology. Bayley is from Joplin and has lived here her entire life. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family as well as traveling to new places.

Kelsey Smith is a Registered Dental Hygienist at Shine Modern Dentistry. She has been a hygienist at Shine since March 20l6. Kelsey has worked in the dental field since 2012. She graduated dental hygiene school in 2015 and received her Bachelor in health science, from Missouri Southern State University. She is from Neosho, but now lives in Joplin. Kelsey enjoys spending time with her family and friends and traveling.

Summer Garber is a Registered Dental Hygienist at Shine Modern Dentistry. She has been a hygienist at Shine since October of 2017. She graduated from Missouri Southern State University in May of 2017. Summer grew up in Carthage but now lives in Webb City. Summer and her husband have one little boy named Easton, and he’s a crazy mess. She enjoys spending time together with her family outside, traveling, and finding new Italian eateries.

Gwen is a Dental Assistant at Shine Modern Dentistry. She has been an assistant at Shine since September 2005. She has worked in the dental field as an assistant since 1981. She attended several classes while working to obtain her Expanded Functions certificate. Gwen and her husband Tom have five children and four grandchildren. Gwen enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and running.

Michele is a Dental Assistant at Shine Modern Dentistry. She started working at Shine in March 2014. She went to college at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and the University of Arkansas, majoring in nursing. She later decided to enter the dental field and has been an assistant since 1992. Michele moved to Missouri in 2007, and before that, she led a busy life having lived in 14 states. She has been married to her husband Calvin since 1992 and has three children (Kylan, Erin, and Jennifer) and one grandchild (Aiden).

Taylor graduated from Galena High School in 2016. She attended MSSU from 2016-2018 then transferred to Labette Community College. She graduated in 2019 with an Associates of Applied Science in Dental Assisting. Taylor looks forward to continuing her education and earning her expanded functions certificate. She enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with her family and 3 dogs.

Eva is a Registered Dental Hygienist at Shine Modern Dentistry. She graduated from Missouri Southern State University in May of 1999 and has worked with Dr DeTar since 2005 before joining Shine Modern Dentistry in June of 2020. Eva grew up in Liberal, Mo, but now lives in Webb City. Eva and her husband Tom have a daughter Lexi, a son Eli and daughter-in-law Kylee. She enjoys spending time together with her family, serving her community and traveling.

Gina began her career in dentistry in 2001, and has worked as a chair-side dental assistant in general dentistry, orthodontics, and endodontics. Dentistry has always been her passion, and she strives to help patients feel welcome and at ease from the moment they enter the office. She attended MSSU and OTC after graduating from Neosho High School in 1999. Gina and her husband, Kevin, live in Joplin and have a daughter that is active in several sports, and they spend much of their free time on a field or in a gym. Gina is a life-long Disney fan, and she enjoys vacationing at Disney World with her family. She is also the proud daughter of the artist who painted the beautiful cloud mural on our office ceiling.

Amanda is the Financial Coordinator at Shine Modern Dentistry. She has been at Shine since December 2003. She graduated from Webb City High School in 2002 and Vatterott College in 2003. Amanda has a thorough knowledge of treatment planning. She spends a great deal of time with patients to ensure they understand future procedures and assists them with making financial arrangements, if needed. She helps patients file insurance and other tasks that are in the best interest of the patient and the practice. She is always available to answer inquiries from patients and insurance companies. Amanda resides in Webb City and enjoys spending time with her family.
Scheduling Coordinator
Christina has been working in dentistry for over 8 years, 5 of which have been at Shine Modern Dentistry. She’s passionate about being part of Shine Modern Dentistry because she feels that calming fears, answering questions and helping make treatment possible, especially in a soothing environment is rewarding. One thing she enjoys most about dentistry is seeing how changing a patient’s smile transforms their lives. It is very rewarding for her to know she helped in that process. Christina couldn’t image working for a better dental practice and she’s grateful for the opportunity to work with such loving, caring staff.
